5 Party

We are all invited to a party. One that we don't really know many specifics about. We don't know what the theme is or how it will be decorated. We don't know who will be there or what kind of games will be played. We aren't even sure exactly where it will be. How many of us will ignore this invitation? Quite often it is easier to think life is pretty good now it's simpler to just stay where we're at. The unknown of God's promises seem to allow for choice. The choice to believe in God's good character and his desire to give good gifts or to live in a kind of complacent existence that just is biding time until death. I think when we fail seek after God's character, we in turn, fail to seek after His promises. When we fail to seek out and find His true character it is us that miss out. Jesus remarks to the woman at the well seem to drip with hidden meaning. "If only you knew, He said, the gift God has for you." Like the woman at the well, we are too often content chasing the good things of the world when they are just the reflection, and not the true gift that God wants to give. It takes faith, it takes imagination, it takes perseverance, it takes humility, to accept this invitation to the party, but it will be good. Because the Creator is good.
