Philippians 2:3

Who misses out when a person thinks too highly of themselves? I suspect it is that person . Live humbly, thinking of others as higher than yourself. Statistically speaking I think this is a healthy way to live based strictly on the possibility that there is something you could learn and grow from everyone around you. To think to highly of yourself requires a measurement. Whether it is intelligence, good looks, or accomplishment, our only unit of measure is one of comparison to others that we see around us. In doing this, we measure incorrectly. It almost seems silly when you think about our intelligence in contrast to God's intelligence. It seems ridiculous thinking of our own beauty and grandeur when God gathered piles of rocks and shaped them into mountains and even this ruminated the beauty of His existence. Our accomplishments might or might not seem significant in contrast to our earthly brother or sister, but how crudely arrogant is it to think anything we do remotely compares to the works of His hand. You see our measurement is flawed. When we think too highly of ourselves we exclude the God that created all. The fact of the scale is this. God is infinitely above us, and mathematically speaking, that puts us on one big fat level playing field. The question remains though, what am I to learn, how am I to grow through relationship with those around me? This is where the adventure starts because I have no idea, but it begins with living humbly.
