God has an ironic sense of humor. When our bodies mature they arrive at a point where they stop growing and instead maintain. Often around this season we also come to think that we know all that we need to know or possibly just know enough. We loose our childlike wonder and exploratory nature. A fascinating point is that even through this and to the end of our life our noses and ears continue to grow. This seems like an ironic reminder that even at an old age we need to have ears to hear. Turning our ears off at a certain age is as if we are saying there is nothing left for God to teach us. At the point we turn our ears off as Christians, we mine as well kill ourselves, because it is as if we are saying that now we have matured our lives now are our own and for our own enjoyment.
Our noses also continue to grow. Not say our sense of smell does, but our noses shout experience. Which goes hand in hand with ears to hear God's leading. An ever growing nose says to me, no matter the age there is always experience to be had.
