I don't know about other parents, but I love to turn my kids loose with duct tape, cardboard, and string. Watching them create is much more fun for me then having them punch out a prepackaged and single track craft. Thinking about the discovered and undiscovered secrets of nature, science, etc seem to be the duct tape, cardboard and string that God has given us to create with. I can imagine it tickling His fancy for a new-to-us discovery to be made and used towards a good purpose.
