85 Reach The Pedals

I was talking with a few kids about learning to drive. The kids were young and filled with gusto at their abilities. They described sitting on their dad's lap and steering while he runs the foot feet. They mentioned how at first it was difficult to learn how much to steer. First you had to know which way to turn the wheel and then you have to figure out how much to turn it. All of this took a painful amount of time, and at the end there is still the truth that your dad is still running the pedals.

The fact is this. The actions of the kids to drive are supported and aided by the father. Some of the tasks related to driving are not even possible for the kids to do because of their size. Reaching the pedals requires them to physically grow before the next stage of responsibility comes. This takes time. The time it takes to grow the necessary abilities seems to be something that we often misjudge and grow frustrated with. We want to reach the cars pedals before we are able. What we fail to realize in the moment is the perfection and planning of God's timing. When we first begin our walk with God as a Christian it's good to realize how He enjoys it when we walk in His authority and strength, but it's good to remember that much of what we do is dependent on His role in our lives. He is helping us to learn to steer, watch, and operate our lives. While we might have an eager excitement for the next step, His guidance is right and his timing is perfect. There are some things that will take a long time to learn and some things that we will have to wait to grow into.
