It is easy in momentary hardship, to tell yourself to endure for a season and hope again for comfort and ease. When we make the choice to follow God we give up the pursuit of this dream of comfort, ease, and even safety. When our heart is truly given towards God's kingdom and His good purpose. The importance of what the world offers and values seems to fade. This realization becomes inevitable. Whether it be seasons of hardship or seasons of joy, we should be aware that our whole life is at the disposal of God and His purpose. This seems to be a limiting thing in many people's minds which makes it hard to surrender all to God, even when belief is acknowledged. I think each of us struggles with surrender to God's will on some level, and part of this stems from a misunderstanding of His character. To place any value above Him is egregious because it was He that created all and it is to reflect His character that good gifts were given to begin with. The summation of all this is that we are to run the race with endurance. Knowing that God will bring rest in the season it is needed and strength when it is needed. What He does NOT ask for is to remain in a place of rest when He invites us into the race. He will not require more of us that we are able to do in His strength.
