68 Season of Peace

Twice Paul commands us to put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes you will be able to stand firm. We each will live to face evil in some way. The implication of this allows that there may be a season prior to this day, that we may have the chance to prepare ourselves against attack. How often do we spend a season of peace in urgent preparation for the time that attack will come. I think more often then not we grow lax and vulnerable in a season of peace rather than intentionally prepare ourselves for the day we will rejoin the spiritual battle. How would our actions be affected if we viewed a season of rest or peace as a calm before the storm. Not as a time for laziness but as a time to re-fit our armor. Addressing our weakness and bolstering our strength. Any unexpected blessing or rest would go directly to preparing for the next attack. We, as a free and rich country have grown lazy. We have taken this season of peace and prosperity and begun to worship it. Peace and prosperity were simply the good gifts God meant gird ourselves against what is to come. The Bible is clear about what is to come. I wonder if we are on the verge of it and we are less prepared than we should be.
