53 Presence

There are many ways that we try to maintain relationship with someone we love when we are at a distance. We might write letters, call on the phone, send a text, or even do a video chat. All of these things are tools we use to stay connected to our loved ones, but there is nothing quite like being with the person you love. The real deal is irreplaceable, you see their smile, hear their laugh, give them a hug and receive one too. You feel their presence when you are together and it is good. It can be hard to maintain a relationship in a healthy way when two people can't be together. One goes through one thing and the other something else. It is hard to completely understand another life when you are just not there.

God offers us an introduction in our time here on this earth. He offers us reflections of His power, goodness, and provision in His creation. He gives us much opportunity to see His character and either embrace it or reject it. If we reject it, we often yet enjoy the reflections of His good character in different ways until we die, but after we die we are cut off from even the reflection of His presence. If we accept His invitation in our hearts, our perspective changes. Instead of focusing on the good gifts in an earthly life we simply enjoy them as reflections of His good character and tools to show those around us His love as well. The truth of what we hold onto as believers is the delight of meeting face to face with the heavenly Father that delights in us, and looking forward to an eternity in His presence.
