43 Copy of a Copy

1 Corinthians 3:4

I was making copies with my kids the other day and I insisted that when they made a new copy, that they should put the original into the platen rather than stick the fresh copy into the input. As I was explaining why, my mind drifted to what Paul reminded the Corinthians of. People do today as they did then, they followed. We have our political figures, our heroes, or our teachers. We often put our faith in the things they say or do, and we imitate. It is not all bad because it is how we ourselves learn, grow and are challenged, but we as Christians must remember this in the more dire sense. It is Christ we are to imitate. If we fall into the trap of imitating someone who is imitating Jesus then our imitation will be like a copy made from a copy. In the church our teachers, heros, and leaders job is simply to point us and direct us to connection with God ourselves. If we fail to do this then it won't be long before our copy of a copy of a copy, become almost illegible and ineffective for it's purpose.
