21 1+1

When I was a kid I was full of good ideas. Like most, I was fascinated with flight. Not in a plane or jet, but organic wing flight like a bird. One of my ventures into this freedom was to assemble a long stick and to tie grocery bags to it. If my memory serves me correctly I climbed up on the roof preparing to jump off and float gracefully back to the ground. When I reached the roof and looked over the edge I climbed back down and decided to try it first from a ladder. Needless to say my aeronautical prowess was less than sufficient and the floating wasn't so graceful, but I learned something that day that was realized 30 years later. A child's faith and imagination caused me to try something new and grow and learn. God's wonderful grace protected me in a smiling way. We, as adults have become the masters of reason. We give mostly out of surplus. We compartmentalize our finance and abilities thinking 1+1 is the only equation that equals 2, so we must strive singularly to grasp 1 and 1. We often forget that God can completely blow our minds and conquer an army with 300 jar and torch carrying men.
