204 Smell the Roses

So much in life is a trade off.  Our careers in exchange for our families. The appearance of success, rather than a strong foundation. Outward health for inward corruption.  I learned a new thing this morning.  In the growing of roses, the pursuit of a longer straighter stem and a more consistent and disease free foliage has unintentionally driven away the potent fragrance that once was an essence of the rose.

We do that more often than we know.  We give up a diversity of creation in pursuit of what we think beauty should look like.  We mistake how true success is measured, and in doing so we give up what we cannot recreate.  An inspired fragrance to those around us and a uniqueness that was given by the Creator.
