Our personalities are only ever given to us as a guide in our lives, not a track. What I mean by this is that a train cannot veer of its track without disaster. A hiking trail guide is something we choose to follow. If we mark our steps with regiment never straying from where our "personality" is comfortable then I would suggest we will miss some big things that God has for us. Let's take this introvert extrovert conversation. I've heard too many times. I can't do that I'm an introvert. The same might be said, I struggle with that because I'm an extrovert. When we choose to follow Jesus with our whole hearts the first war that begins is with ourselves. If we cannot overcome our own will, then how can we ever surrender to God's? Our personality is like a hiking path. God will on occasion ask us to step off the path in order to show us new ways to surrender our will. He will ask us to stretch ourselves and in this stretching, grow. If we limit God to the confines of what we feel comfortable in then it is a very small box we put Him in.
