18 Pilot's Memory

How confident would you be in a pilot that is flying you somewhere that only has an owners manual for the plane, but does not know the controls by heart. What if he was supremely confident that he could look up in the index of his book, how to take off, how to land, how to recover from stall, or deal with turbulence. How willing would you be to fly with him? How sure would you be that you would arrive where you need to go? How effective are we as children of God when we sit back, knowing that we have free and easy access to God's word? Yet it sits on the shelf instead of imprinted on our hearts and minds. Will Satan's attacks come with fair warning? Will time of need only come when we have had adequate delay to brush up on biblical truth? We might be able to avoid situations where we depend on God for part of our lives, but there will be a time for each of us, that is crunch time. It might look like a bit of turbulence or and engine failure, but if we are not prepared for it, we will whither and die like the seed planted in rocks. If I had to guess, the eternity for this seed, sounds more like one spent separated from God rather than in His heavenly presence.
