154 Prodigal's Father

The prodigal's father did not alter his household to accommodate the sin of the prodigal.  I heard it said he didn't make his house a house of prostitution to help his returning son feel at home upon arrival.  The implication of this is important because we often are tempted to compromise our convictions at the pressure of inclusivity. The prodigal's father patiently waited for his son to hit rock bottom, but happily accepted him back when he did. I once heard a preacher list the things he was hesitant to speak about because he had a running list of who he would offend by doing so. If you are called to speak, then speak as though God himself were speaking through you. God doesn't ask us to compromise or accept sin, but to love the sinner. Just to be clear. It is not loving, to pretend like living in sin is ok. Get the log out of your eye, so that you can help your brother with his issues.
