I was once told I should have put together a video for an upcoming church event I was putting on. It would help people to know all that they were getting into so they could decide whether they wanted to be a part of it. I had intentionally given some details and intentionally withheld others. I think it is our culture of surplus, ease, and comfort that seeks to know and weigh every detail. It is interesting to contrast this to the call Jesus gives His disciples. The way He called the twelve was simple. Stop, come and follow. I wonder if He made sure they had been fully made aware of every detail through the bulletin, website, app, announcement, and then again through social media? Or did they simply realize their hunger for the things of God, and follow. So here we are as pastors, trying to create things that connect people with God and what do we find? We find people who are not hungry.
