A famous painter once painted a mural and offered an interesting perspective. She found herself painting up close to the wall. The smallest detail on it's own did not make much sense on its own, but it was necessary. This large mural, like many, was made of many small pieces that in order to appreciate required a few steps back to see the whole picture. In fact it was nearly impossible to see the whole picture while actively working on the details, and it was impossible to work on the details while distantly viewing the whole perspective.
All this seems remarkably similar to life. In the moment, whether the season is hard or easy, we get frustrated by our limited view of the big picture. Especially in a hard season we question the why, but to understand that it is in these fine details that God is creating a masterpiece. Sometimes He lets us take a step back to see a glimpse of the larger picture, but even in this it is important to remember that to permanently step back is to fail to finish what has been started. If we think we can avoid returning to work on the next details of our life then we will fail to reflect the Creators good intentions, by allowing ourselves to remain incomplete.
