If a child is enduring emotional or physical neglect or even abuse the parents are often held responsible. There are certain expectations for a parent to fulfill and they do so with varying success depending on the level of commitment and responsibility they feel as parents. It seems as though we look at spiritual growth in a different lens. Why would we not hold the parents ultimately responsible for the spiritual health and well being of the child? By delegating this responsibility we handicap future generations more than we realize. The parent child relationship is the most important one to the child and if the parent doesn't value wholehearted devotion to God, why would we expect it of the children?
