1 Arrows

An arrow is an effective thing. It can bring bounty to a hunt, providing nourishment to the hunter and his family. It can be a defense against those who would attack, providing security to those behind it. An arrow can even be loosed as a signal, a warning or command. An arrow does not fly on its own though. It is stretched back by another force and sent in a direction that is chosen. The rest on a bow offers stability and a direction to its flight. Without it, it would be directionless, ineffective, and much of its value lost. We, as God's children, are arrows in His quiver. We are not designed to sit on a shelf and collect dust, or simply be called His arrows. We are designed and called to His purpose. We can do things to be more or less valuable to His purpose, but each of us has that choice. First to join His kingdom, His army, His family, but next to join the fight. Our fight is not against people, but instead against the evil that motivates them. The principalities and powers that want to destroy them. Yes we are God’s arrows, effective to speak truth when lies abound, to venture out when others are afraid, to warn, to correct, to rebuke, and to encourage. In this calling the rest we create for ourselves determines our effectiveness. The Master Archer sends us, but if we are not in tune to His will then we will fly wild and aimless, and likely cause more damage than good.
